Vision

Galvanized and unified.

As guided by the Holy Spirit, Catholic Macon envisions a local, Middle Georgia community of Catholics who are galvanized and unified. Our families are informed, excited, and encouraged to participate in the life of the Church, and our Catholic institutions are connected and inspired to serve our community together.

Mission

Gathered into one.

Catholic Macon exists to bring our community together —connecting people, sharing what matters, and illuminating the life of the Church across Middle Georgia. We help Catholics in Macon live their faith with clarity and conviction, recognizing that the Church is not a place we go, but a people we are—gathered into one.

Purpose

Deeper community, more support, more unification.

As a result of our mission, we desire that Catholics feel connected to the history of their faith in Georgia. Catholics recognize our faith is active and alive, neither outdated nor uncommon in our city. our Catholic schools identify more opportunities to collaborate and promote Catholic education in our region. our community services, campus ministries, and parish programs have increased visibility in the community and can envision ways to partner together. ultimately, that we provide a window to Macon for newcomers and we begin to attract more Catholics to choose Macon when relocating.

Catholic Macon envisions a more central and visible Catholic presence in Middle Georgia—one in which parishes, schools, ministries, businesses, families, and individuals can more easily connect, share what matters, and illuminate the life of the Church across our region.

Get Involved

Volunteer with Catholic Macon.

Catholic Macon runs on volunteers — parishioners, students, and neighbors who give a few hours to help our parishes, schools, and ministries do their work. Whether you can offer a morning a month or a standing commitment, there is a place for you. Tell us a little about yourself and how you would like to help, and we will connect you with the right opportunity.

Our Patron

St. Carlo Acutis, pray for us!

St. Carlo Acutis, the first millennial saint, was canonized just recently during the 2025 Jubilee Year of Hope. St. Carlo is a contemporary to us all — he knew the world we know and cultivated his faith amid a cultural and political climate much like our own.

In his short life, he forged a path for using technology and the internet in the service of holiness. He understood how to use modern tools, like graphic design and coding, to proclaim the glory of Jesus Christ. He designed websites and digital resources to mobilize volunteers, promote his local parish, and educate the world about the power of the Eucharist.

We think St. Carlo Acutis understands exactly what we’re all about here at Catholic Macon—there’s no better saint to whom we could consecrate this organization! We desire to follow St. Carlo’s example, using the internet to bring our community together and lead one another closer to God.

“My Catholic Macon begins with my personal relationship with Jesus, which flows into my domestic church and then extends outward into our broader community.”

Tracy DeWalt, her husband Wylie, and their three daughters have called Macon home since 2021, when they moved here for an Air Force assignment. After Wylie retired from the Air Force in 2025 and returned to commercial flying, their family chose to stay in Macon—not only because of its proximity to Wylie’s Atlanta base, but primarily because of the vibrant Catholic community they have grown to love over the past five years. Tracy is a stay-at-home mom who gives much of her time to serving her parish and school community at St. Joseph Catholic Church. She earned an Industrial Engineering degree from the University of Florida (don’t hold that against her, Georgia fans!) and spent the majority of her professional career in consulting and business operations, where she gained in-depth experience in complex project management, business and financial analysis, data management, and reporting. Her vocation as a wife and mother has drawn her into a profoundly deeper relationship with Jesus and His Church, and she is passionate about cultivating Catholic identity and community throughout Macon.
